hamsters are heads with little characteristics on the head, part two
the next morning the hamster stands in the shower
the hamster’s upturned paw has a small dab of shampoo on it
this will not be enough shampoo
the hamster feels sarcastic
the hamster’s body and cheeks are warm
from the sunlight through the window
and the hamster is very afraid
it feels so sad so early in the day
hamsters are heads with little characteristics on the head, part three
in the evening the hamster sits at the computer
watermelon juice and coffee sit by the computer
the hamster drinks all of the coffee
after a few minutes the hamster drinks all of the watermelon juice
the hamster lays its paw atop a neatly folded to-do list; this is a
resourceful hamster
with a strong will, a sincere and loving hamster friend, and a confident
nature
we do not need to spend any more time or empathy on this hamster
They are from a book of poetry called Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy by Tao Lin. If you want to go to Bard, Sarah Lawrence or NYU, I suggest you get familiar with hipster poetry. So you can impress the ladies or at least laugh a little bit.

… so yeah …
I AM BUSY.
I just finished organizing my second student concert.
It is amazing to see what some kids will do when put in front of about 200 people …
Luckily, no major mess ups
but it does seem like ever year there is usually some disaster …
For example: In the past, we have even had “that guy” on stage sitting half frozen stretching “America” by the Simon and Garfunkel from a 3 minute song to a 10 minute song as the crowd attempts to yell the words that he forgot …
But not this year …
Other years, it was me, during my first student concert …
my friend and i made an acoustic version of “Here in your arms” by Hellogoodbye
we did not think that through …
I was so nervous I destroyed the song haha
But I didn’t mind …
Now I plan the student concerts … it is interesting how that worked out

Despite my consistent need to leave, I miss this city.
I am currently sitting in a retirement home in Iowa City, Iowa. This winter break I am visiting my grandmother who is a resident here. It is strange taking care of the woman, my last living grandparent. The tables have turned and the roles reversed. It is hard to comprehend that the woman sleeping in the next room is the same person that watched the Sound Of Music and taught me to sew. As people age, It is interesting to see how they evolve. My grandmother beams when I am around. That makes me guiltier that I am leaving. She is eternally proud of me. I wish that translated into health. I wish she wasn’t so scared. I wish she didn’t forget my name. I wish I could see her more often and I wish she would fight more. I love her.
